| One of my first jobs after high school was to be a caretaker at Westwind Barn. I lived and worked there for nine months in 1988. I recall that time with fond nostalgia. I still enjoy revisiting Westwind and the neighboring Byrne Preserve. The walk along the corridor from Westwind to the Duveneck ranch is a favorite pasttime (and makes for a romantic date). I sincerely hope that these lands remain open for public enjoyment. |

It makes me so angry to see this happening to Hispanic people here in Los Altos Hills. I am Hispanic (Ecuador) as well. I live in Los Altos Hills on a house provided by the employer of my husband. We are not in any way treated with disrespect. Why? Maybe because my husband is American born? Maybe because the organization he works for doesn't discriminate against race? I really hope the two Latino men win this case. The friends of Westwind Barn has failed to provide with the basic needs to these two employees that have devoted theirs skills and years to WB interests'. Anita. |

| I boarded at WWB from 12/1991 to 10/2001 and have wonderful memories. I left only because I married, moved to Fremont and wanted my horse closer to me. I'm sad to read all the upheavals that have been going on since my departure. I suppose every barn has its politics, but it seems to me that this whole thing with the living conditions has gotten out of hand. Westwind deserves to be the jewel it once was. |

Did they really leave the barn? So it is safe to come back? Is the town going to take over? I hope they know what they are doing. So sad to hear about all of this. It's such a nice place |

| In a post before mine these women were reffered to as "dressage queens", in my opinion I think that's a nice way of putting it. I would call them the wicked witches of west (wind), and now that they ruined Westwind for the rest of us, they're planning on leaving the barn only to go and ruin another facility. Well shame on them, I am far too disgusted to even look at their ugly faces. |

Although the barn and the area are gorgeous, people who “govern” WWB are not making things easy over there. I sadly find the trainers deeply unfriendly, while they should be the sunshine of the barn. If they don’t like you, then you will quickly lose any excitement you could get when you arrive at such beautiful place. Some basic things like saying Hi, or even returning a smile should be the rule number one! There has been a succession of barn managers, who, once empowered, turned into invisible ghosts or ice-cold hostesses. I sincerely whish WWB is taking the latest events as an eye-opener, and jump on this opportunity to turn the place into this attractive place it truly deserves to be. |

| For years, "the clique" at WWB has been running the show and now they are at it again! But this time, there is a new member who seems to be acting as their spokesperson. As their spokesperson, Patti Roche has either been coerced or has gone along willingly into the political frey. It was with great disappointment that I viewed the shameful display by the "Friends" and the absurd presentation by Ms. Roche at the last Town Council meeting. Patti Roche claimed to be a resident, when in reality she is not. And to a woman who would bring her young daughter into the contentious, ugly and adult world of LAH politics to help with dirty work for the "Friends", I say shame on you! |

| Westwind Barn is wonderful asset that is being monopolized by a small group of dressage queens who are resistant to change. Children and beginner adult riders cannot understand dressage, so it's no wonder Westwind has not gained in popularity as a place to take lessons. They need a reputable Hunter/Jumper or Eventer trainer to run their lesson program and also provide a place for higher level (jumping) riders to be. Only then will Westwind have some class and attract members of the community. As long as Westwind is run by a Board controlled by the dressage queens, nothing will ever change. What a waste for such a beautiful place. |

| Unbelievable. "The staff have always been treated like family"?? WHOSE family? Does Ms. Metcalf's family live in a windowless double horse stall? And how exactly does the fact that the Friends didn't know a window was REQUIRED make it OK? Surely they did know where the family lived, but it was OK until they found out it was illegal? People like that are why the Bible says the bit about the camel and the eye of the needle. There is evil in the world, and it has money and horses. |

11/12/2005 This web site is owned and operated since 2000 by Robert Hill. It has been offered to Friends of Westwind in the past and they did not take it. I, unlike others, have no political aims. If there is anything untrue on this site I will gladly take it down. The truth hurts. It is time to restore Westwind to its proper glory. |
